Acetate Dyeing and Coloration

topic
Acetate dyeing primarily with disperse dyes (designed for acetate, 80-90% of applications) at 80-85°C providing excellent color range, wash fastness, and light fastness. Alternative dyes include developed disperse dyes (azoic dyeing on acetate) and special acetate dyes. Cannot use reactive, direct, or vat dyes (lack hydroxyl groups). Solution dyeing (dope dyeing) for cost-effective solid colors with superior fastness.

Role

Unique dyeing requirements necessitate disperse dye technology development, now standard for polyester dyeing—acetate's historical role in disperse dye innovation affects modern synthetic fibre processing.
