Air Entanglement and Interlacing Technology
topic
Air interlacing jets create periodic entanglement knots in multifilament yarn by directing compressed air jets perpendicular to the yarn path at defined tension and air pressure settings, producing interlacing nodes at 15 to 80 per metre that provide cohesion to replace sizing or twist in weaving and provide structural stability in technical yarn assemblies without the bulk and mechanical properties change of twisted constructions.
Role
Provides yarn cohesion and assembly bonding through a mechanical interlacing process that replaces twist in warp yarns, reduces sizing requirement, and provides assembly point joining in technical yarns at lower energy and mechanical processing requirements than twisting, with interlacing node frequency and security optimised for each application to balance cohesion against drape and flexibility requirements.
