Antifungal and Mould Resistance Testing

topic
Antifungal testing exposes textile specimens to fungal spore suspensions of Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans on agar medium, incubating under defined humidity and temperature conditions for 14 to 28 days before grading mycelial growth on and around specimens against a six-point numerical scale.

Role

Validates mould and fungi resistance of textile products used in high-humidity environments including outdoor canopies, tenting, marine upholstery, and bathroom textiles where fungal degradation of fibres and health risks from mycotoxin production are primary product failure modes.
