Bale Plucking and Automatic Bale Openers

topic
Automatic bale openers traverse a take-off roller or comb across the face of a lay of 20 to 60 bales simultaneously, plucking small tufts of 0.5 to 5 grams from each bale in sequence to achieve homogeneous blending from the first production metre, with tuft size controlled by roller pressure, traverse speed, and take-off depth settings governing opening intensity and blending homogeneity.

Role

Provides the first and most critical blending stage in the blowroom line where fibre from dozens of bales of varying origin and quality is simultaneously sampled to achieve lot-average uniformity, with bale management software optimising take-off sequences to maintain blend composition within defined limits throughout the production shift.
