Community & Collective Purpose
Role
Collective purpose energy explains why people consistently perform beyond their individual capacity in the context of causes, movements, and communities that they genuinely belong to — with the energy produced by community belonging and shared purpose exceeding what individual motivation, discipline, and resource availability would predict. The social epidemic of meaning-deficiency in developed nations is not merely a psychological problem but an energy problem: the primary renewable energy source of collective purpose has been progressively eliminated by the individualization, privatization, and commodification of social life, producing the chronic low-grade existential fatigue that characterizes populations with high material abundance and low social meaning.
