Decatising and Fabric Stabilisation for Wool

topic
Decatising machines process wool fabrics by winding them tightly on a perforated drum with a pressure wrapper, then passing steam through the wound fabric for 5 to 20 minutes at 110 to 120 degrees Celsius followed by cold air suction cooling that sets the fabric structure permanently in the steamed configuration, providing improved fabric lustre, handle, dimensional stability, and resistance to subsequent steam pressing distortion.

Role

Stabilises wool fabric structure and improves its lustre and handle through the steam-pressure treatment that sets the wool fibre scales and fabric construction in a permanent configuration, with autoclave decatising providing the highest quality fabric stabilisation for premium suiting woolens while continuous decatising on drum machines provides adequate quality at higher throughput for medium-quality applications.
