Dimensional Stability and Relaxation Testing

topic
Knitted fabric dimensional stability testing measures fabric dimensions before and after defined relaxation conditions including dry relaxation, wet relaxation by gentle wetting and flat drying, and machine washing cycles according to ISO 6330 or AATCC 135 standards, calculating length and width changes as percentage of original dimensions that indicate how much the fabric will change size during garment making, washing, and wear.

Role

Predicts the garment dimensional behaviour during consumer care and wear by quantifying the shrinkage and width change of knitted fabric under defined treatment conditions, enabling fabric specification setting that accounts for relaxation and washing shrinkage in garment pattern sizing and providing the quality control data needed to ensure finished garments maintain specified dimensions after consumer washing.
