Emotional Association Networks
Role
Emotional association networks are the most personally distinctive and most creatively generative regions of the individual mind — because they represent the intersection of universal conceptual structures with the specific emotional history of the individual, producing the unique associative configurations that differentiate each person's creative perspective from every other person's. The highly creative person who draws on their specific emotional associations — their particular fears, loves, wounds, and delights — as creative material rather than suppressing them in favor of 'objective' analysis has access to the most generative region of their unique mental network. This is why the most resonant creative works feel simultaneously deeply personal and universally recognizable — they emerge from the emotional association networks that are most specific to the individual and most shared with the audience.
