Filament Yarn Types and Properties

topic
Yarn types: FDY (Fully Drawn Yarn)—high tenacity (4.5-6.0 g/den polyester), low elongation (15-30%), used for woven fabrics, industrial applications, production 3,500-5,000 m/min. POY (Partially Oriented Yarn)—intermediate properties (2.5-3.5 g/den tenacity, 60-120% elongation), feedstock for texturing, production 2,500-4,000 m/min. DTY (Draw Textured Yarn)—textured with bulk/stretch (3.5-5.0 g/den, 20-40% elongation, 15-25% stretch), for knitwear, woven fashion, production 600-1,200 m/min. HOY (Highly Oriented Yarn) / FOY (Fully Oriented Yarn)—maximum orientation (5.5-7.0 g/den, <20% elongation), for technical textiles, production 5,000-6,000 m/min. BCF (Bulked Continuous Filament)—crimped, bulk for carpet, upholstery, 2-3 g/den.
