Four-Point Fabric Grading System
topic
The four-point fabric grading system assigns penalty points of one to four per defect based on defect length or size, with one point for defects up to 75 millimetres, two points for 75 to 150 millimetres, three points for 150 to 230 millimetres, and four points for defects exceeding 230 millimetres or holes regardless of size; total points per 100 square metres determine fabric grade acceptability.
Role
Provides the most widely used international standard for objective fabric roll quality grading in woven and knitted fabric inspection, enabling quantitative comparison of fabric quality across suppliers and production lots and establishing a common commercial quality language between mills and garment manufacturers for fabric purchase and rejection decisions.
