Gratitude & Purpose
Role
Gratitude's energy contribution is the most accessible and most evidence-supported spiritual energy practice available — requiring only the deliberate redirection of attention toward what is present and valued rather than toward what is absent and desired, a shift that activates the positive emotional-neural correlates of meaning and connection without requiring any change in objective circumstances. The energy contribution of gratitude is real and biological: gratitude practice activates the same reward circuits as genuine positive experience, generates the positive emotional broadening that expands rather than depletes resources, and produces the neuroplastic changes in negativity-bias tendency that accumulate with sustained practice into a fundamentally more energized relationship with daily experience.
