← Measurement Uncertainty in Textile Testing

GUM Framework Applied to Textile Test Methods

topic
GUM uncertainty analysis for textile tests constructs a measurement model expressing the measurand as a function of all input quantities, evaluates Type A uncertainty components from repeated measurement statistics and Type B components from calibration certificates, reference material values and published literature, then combines components using the law of propagation of uncertainty to derive combined standard uncertainty.

Role

Provides the internationally recognised metrological framework for rigorous uncertainty quantification in textile testing laboratories, enabling ISO 17025 accredited laboratories to report expanded uncertainty with coverage factor k equal to 2 corresponding to approximately 95 percent confidence for each textile test method in their scope of accreditation.
