Lease and Cross Formation in Warping
topic
Lease formation during sectional warping uses crossing sticks or lease rods inserted in the warp sheet to create a half-cross between alternating ends that separates individual ends and preserves their sequence from creel to beam, preventing end entanglement during beaming and providing the lease cross used in drawing-in to identify individual end sequence for threading through heddles and reed in the correct weave pattern order.
Role
Preserves the identity and sequence of individual warp ends through the beaming process that would otherwise entangle adjacent ends and prevent individual identification during drawing-in, with lease maintenance being particularly critical for multi-colour stripe warps where the sequence of coloured ends must be preserved exactly to reproduce the specified stripe pattern, and for single-end identification in weave analysis of existing fabric being reproduced.
