Lyocell Structure and Properties
topic
Lyocell exhibits: cellulose II structure, crystallinity 40-50% (higher than viscose), DP 400-600, tenacity 4.5-5.0 g/den (dry), 3.8-4.2 g/den (wet, only 15% loss), elongation 12-15%, initial modulus 120-150 g/den, moisture regain 11-13%, circular cross-section with homogeneous structure (no skin-core), and excellent dimensional stability.
Role
Superior wet strength retention and higher modulus enable applications requiring durability and dimensional stability, distinguishing lyocell from viscose.
