OE Yarn Properties and Performance
topic
OE yarn properties: tenacity 10-15 cN/tex (15-25% lower than ring equivalent count, cotton 20 Ne OE: 13-15 cN/tex vs. ring 16-18 cN/tex), elongation 5-7% (similar to ring), evenness CV% 12-16% (inferior to ring 8-12% but acceptable for most applications), imperfections higher than ring (thin places 20-40/km, thick places 40-80/km, neps 80-150/km), abrasion resistance 10-15% lower than ring, bending rigidity 20-30% higher (stiffer handle), moisture absorption 5-8% lower (due to lower packing density), and pilling tendency higher (wrapper fibres). Advantages: more uniform appearance at fabric level (small variations average out), better covering power (open structure), and superior dye uniformity (better dye penetration).
