Plastisol PVC Coating

topic
Plastisol is a dispersion of PVC resin particles (K-value 65–75) in liquid plasticizers (DOP or DINP at 40–60 phr) with no solvent, applied by knife-over-roll or screen coating at 0.1–2.0 mm thickness, gelled at 160–180°C for 1–3 minutes. Add-on weight of 200–600 g/m² provides high abrasion resistance (Taber >500 cycles). Shore A hardness of 50–90 is adjustable by plasticizer content. Fire retardant grades incorporate Sb₂O₃ and ATH fillers. Cost is $0.80–2.50/m². Used for truck curtainsiders, stadium seating, and industrial protective clothing requiring high durability.

Role

Primary PVC application method for heavy-duty industrial coated fabrics, offering simple formulation flexibility, no solvent handling requirements, and high throughput at industrial coating speeds of 15–30 m/min.
