Resourcefulness
Role
Resourcefulness is the practical intelligence that separates people who produce outcomes from people who produce explanations for why outcomes were not possible. It is not primarily an intelligence trait — it is a mindset and a practiced orientation toward constraint. People who have been raised in and trained by highly resourced, highly structured environments — where problems come with the tools to solve them already provided — often discover a brittleness in their problem-solving when facing real-world constraints: without the specific tool, the specific procedure, or the adequate budget, they stop rather than improvise. Resourcefulness is built through deliberate exposure to constrained problem-solving environments that require creative use of what is available rather than waiting for what would be ideal.
