Süssen Elite Compact System
topic
The Elite system (Spindelfabrik Suessen) uses a lattice apron (perforated belt, 2–3 mm holes) running over a suction shoe with a narrow groove, condensing the fibre band by suction through the lattice. The lattice apron moves with the fibres (unlike the Rieter stationary drum insert), reducing fibre-to-surface friction and improving fibre guidance. Elite is available as original equipment and as a retrofit kit for existing ring frames. Suction requirements: −1,500 to −2,500 Pa.
Role
The Elite retrofit capability makes it commercially significant beyond new machine sales — it enables existing conventional ring frame owners to upgrade to compact spinning without purchasing new machines. Understanding the Elite retrofit economics (capital cost vs yarn price premium) is the most common ROI calculation requested of textile engineers in mills considering compact conversion.
