Snag Resistance Testing
topic
Snag resistance testing tumbles fabric specimens with spiked balls or draws pins across the surface to simulate loop extraction from knit structures, grading surface disturbance against photographic reference standards from 5 (no snagging) to 1 (very severe snagging) after a standardised number of cycles.
Role
Particularly relevant for weft-knit jersey, lace, and open-weave decorative fabrics used in hosiery, knitwear, and eveningwear where yarn loop extraction by sharp objects is a primary consumer complaint and return driver.
