UPF testing measures spectral transmittance of fabric specimens across the UV spectrum from 280 to 400 nanometres using a spectrophotometer with integrating sphere, calculating the ultraviolet protection factor as the ratio of erythemally weighted UV radiation incident on unprotected skin to that transmitted through the fabric specimen.

Validates UV protection claims for sun protective swimwear, outdoor garments, and children's clothing under AS/NZS 4399 and EN 13758, providing the UPF rating from 15 to 50+ that enables consumers to select appropriate solar protection for their UV exposure level and skin type.
