Vacuum Extraction and Dewatering Systems

topic
Vacuum slot extractors apply high vacuum of 0.6 to 0.8 bar through slotted suction boxes below the fabric surface as the fabric travels over the vacuum slot at 20 to 100 metres per minute, removing 5 to 15 percentage points of moisture from the fabric at the minimum energy cost of any dewatering method since vacuum extraction requires only 0.1 to 0.2 kilowatt hours per kilogram of water removed compared to 0.6 to 0.8 for thermal drying.

Role

Reduces thermal drying energy consumption by mechanically extracting maximum moisture from wet fabric before thermal drying, with vacuum extraction being the most energy-efficient dewatering method whose moisture reduction before thermal drying translates directly to reduced dryer energy consumption, making vacuum extraction slot installation before stenter drying one of the highest-return energy efficiency investments in textile wet processing.
