Warp and Weft Colour Effects in Jacquard

topic
Jacquard colour effects use combinations of different-coloured warp threads assigned to specific hook positions and different-coloured weft in selected picks to create multicolour figured fabrics where the design colour at each point in the fabric depends on which warp and weft threads are combined at that intersection, with colour mixing from different weave structures that expose different proportions of warp and weft enabling intermediate colour tones between the discrete warp and weft colours available.

Role

Enables the multicolour figured fabric designs that characterise premium upholstery, decorative furnishing, and fashion fabric Jacquard weaving by exploiting the combination of warp colour, weft colour, and weave structure at each design point to create the full range of colours visible in the finished fabric from a limited set of yarn colours, with colour mixing through weave structure providing the colour richness of traditional Jacquard fabrics from the limited colour palette of available yarn counts.
