← Fibre Blending in the Blowroom

Acclimatization of Raw Material

topic
Blowroom air temperature should be above 23°C with relative humidity of 45–50%. Damp air causes poor cleaning; over-dry air leads to fibre damage. Cotton bales should stand opened in the blowroom for at least 24 hours (preferably 48) before extraction. Synthetic fibre bales should stand 24 hours longer than cotton but unopened to avoid condensation on cold fibre surfaces.

Role

Proper acclimatization ensures fibres adapt to processing conditions before extraction begins. Failure to acclimatize causes condensation on cold fibres, leading to processing problems. Further conditioning occurs naturally within pneumatic transport ducts where small tufts are continually subjected to conditioned air currents.
