Bale Layout and Bale Management

topic
Bale layouts comprise up to 130 bales from 4–6 different sources per blend. Bales can be chosen so that the layout as a whole achieves constant average values for length, fineness, and/or strength within predetermined limits. Computer software is available for optimising bale grouping. Simultaneous extraction from more than 48 bales is seldom useful due to limited space in blending chambers.

Role

Professional bale management is the primary means of cost reduction in spinning, as raw material accounts for 50–70% of yarn cost. Knowing the quality of each bale and optimising bale grouping enables the raw material to be selected to conform exactly to requirements.
