← Fibre Blending in the Blowroom

Classification of Feed Materials

topic
Fibre materials in short-staple spinning are divided into cotton (various origins), man-made fibres (mainly polyester and polyacrylonitrile), and regenerated fibres (viscose). Additional classification is based on degree of previous processing: raw fibre, clean waste, filter strippings, comber waste, recycled fibres from dirty waste, and fibres torn from hard waste such as roving and yarn.

Role

Understanding the classification and characteristics of different feed materials is essential for proper blending, machine setting, and waste management. Each material type requires different handling in terms of acclimatization, opening intensity, and cleaning parameters.
