← Fibre Blending in the Blowroom

Addition of Waste to Raw Material Blends

topic
Clean waste (broken ends of sliver and lap: 100% good fibre; filter waste: 95–98%; comber waste: 95–97%) can be returned to the blend from which it arose. Recommended recycled fibre limits: ring-spun carded yarns up to 5%, combed up to 2.5%; rotor-spun coarse up to 20%, medium up to 10%, fine up to 5%. Random and uncontrolled feeding of waste back into the process must be avoided.

Role

Waste recycling is economically significant—on average 50% of blowroom and carding droppings consist of good fibres. A constant, fixed percentage of waste should be maintained within the blend, with constant proportions of different waste types, to avoid count and quality variations.
