Fibre Orientation and Blending on the Card

topic
Parallelization is achieved on the main cylinder but disappears during web formation between cylinder and doffer, where random orientation is necessary for web cohesion. The card creates partial longitudinal orientation but not true parallelization. The card scarcely improves long-term blending (material transit time too short) but significantly improves transverse blending and intimate fibre-to-fibre mixing through individual fibre processing.

Role

The card is the only machine besides the OE spinner to process individual fibres, making it uniquely capable of achieving intimate fibre-to-fibre mixing. This is particularly important for man-made fibre/cotton blends where uniform distribution of different fibre types is critical.
