Multiple Licker-In Systems

topic
Multiple lickers-in (2 or 3) are optionally available from Rieter, Trützschler, and Marzoli. Clothing surfaces are in doffing configuration relative to each other with speeds increasing in the throughflow direction (e.g., 600 rpm → 1,200 rpm → 1,800 rpm). Instead of grids, lickers-in are encapsulated in casings with small openings and sharp-edged grid blades for impurity removal. For fine, long fibres, mostly only one licker-in is used.

Role

Multiple lickers-in provide progressively finer opening before material reaches the main cylinder, reducing the opening burden on the cylinder/flats zone. This enables higher throughput while maintaining or improving quality, as the material arrives at the main cylinder better prepared for individual fibre separation.
