Circular weft knitting machines produce tubular fabric by feeding yarn to needles arranged on a rotating cylinder and dial, with latch or compound needles forming loops in continuous circular courses that build the fabric structure row by row, producing fabric in diameters from 4 inches for hosiery to 60 inches for outerwear at production speeds of 1 to 2 metres of fabric per minute depending on machine gauge and diameter.

Provides the primary production technology for knitted apparel fabrics including jersey, interlock, rib, and pique structures used in t-shirts, sportswear, underwear, and casualwear, with circular knitting offering the highest production rate of any knitting technology through continuous rotary operation and enabling seamless tubular fabric production that eliminates side seaming in finished garments.
