Counter-Current Washing Ranges
topic
Counter-current washing ranges use multiple wash boxes through which fresh water enters at the final box and progressively more contaminated water flows back toward the entry box, with fabric travelling in the opposite direction to the water flow creating a concentration gradient that minimises fresh water consumption while achieving effective removal of unfixed dye, hydrolysed reactive dye, and process chemicals from the dyed fabric surface.
Role
Achieves thorough removal of unfixed dye and processing chemicals from continuously dyed fabric at minimum fresh water consumption through the counter-current principle that maximises the washing concentration gradient driving force, with wash box temperature, number, and flow rate optimisation determining the completeness of unfixed dye removal that governs rubbing and washing fastness performance of the finished dyed fabric.
