Electrostatic Charging of Meltblown Filter Media

topic
Meltblown filtration media electrostatic charging uses corona discharge or hydrocharging processes to deposit permanent electrostatic charges on polypropylene meltblown fibres, enabling N95 and FFP2 respirator filtration efficiency above 95 percent particulate filtration at 0.3 micrometre particle size with pressure drops below 35 pascals through electrostatic particle capture that supplements mechanical filtration beyond what fibre diameter alone achieves.

Role

Enables respiratory protection filtration performance at pressure drop levels compatible with user breathing resistance by adding electrostatic capture to mechanical filtration, with electrostatically charged meltblown being the critical enabling material for N95 and FFP2 face mask certification that cannot be achieved by mechanical filtration alone at the fibre packing densities compatible with acceptable breathing resistance during extended wear.
