High Production Carding for Synthetic Fibres
topic
High production cards for polyester, viscose, and acrylic staple fibres use wider working widths up to 1.5 metres, higher doffer speeds, and stationary carding segments replacing revolving flats, achieving production rates of 150 to 300 kilograms per hour with gentle metallic clothing adapted to longer, more uniform synthetic fibres that require fibre separation without the intensive nep removal needed for cotton.
Role
Processes synthetic staple fibres at higher production rates than cotton cards by exploiting the absence of trash and neps in man-made fibre while adapting clothing geometry to the different fibre surface, crimp, and length characteristics of synthetic fibres, enabling economically competitive carded synthetic yarn production at mill throughput rates consistent with downstream spinning machine speeds.
