Hot Melt Lamination
category
Hot melt lamination bonds textile layers using thermoplastic adhesives (polyurethane, polyamide, polyester, or EVA) applied as powder (30–80 g/m²), web, film, or gravure-printed dots at temperatures of 120–180°C and nip pressures of 2–6 bar, with line speeds of 20–60 m/min. Peel strength of 15–60 N/5cm is achieved depending on adhesive type and substrate. Moisture-reactive PU hot melts (HMPUR) achieve peel strength >80 N/5cm after 24-hour cure. Open time of 3–15 seconds requires precise process control. Eliminates solvent use entirely versus wet lamination. Market exceeds $2.1 billion for garment interlining and automotive interior lamination.
Role
Clean, high-speed bonding technology for garment interlining, automotive headliners, footwear components, and filtration media assemblies, enabling precise adhesive placement and multilayer composite construction without solvents.
