Powder Scatter Hot Melt Lamination

topic
Powder scatter lamination distributes thermoplastic adhesive powder (PA, PES, or PU, particle size 100–300 µm) at 20–60 g/m² onto fabric surface via engraved scatter roller, melts at 130–170°C in infrared oven within 8–12 seconds, then bonds second substrate under calendar nip (3–5 bar) at 120–160°C. Dot coverage of 15–40% balances bond strength with breathability. Wash resistance exceeds 50 cycles (ISO 6330) at 40°C for PA adhesive grades. Used for interlining in formal shirts, jackets, and uniforms where hand and drape must be preserved. Processing cost is $0.15–0.40/m² for high-volume garment interlining production.

Role

Standard lamination method for garment interlining production, enabling consistent, breathable bonding of woven and nonwoven interlinings to face fabrics while maintaining garment shape retention across commercial laundering cycles.
