Air-Jet Texturing and Taslan Process

topic
Air-jet texturing (Taslan® process) passes FDY through a supersonic air-jet nozzle at 0.4–0.6 MPa, creating random loops and entanglements in the filament bundle, producing a staple-like spun yarn appearance. No heat required — purely mechanical. Overfeed: 15–35% (core) and 20–50% (effect). Produces rough, cotton-like handle. Yarn loop stability measured by loop frequency and height.

Role

Air-jet textured polyester mimics the handle of spun yarns while retaining filament strength, enabling production of synthetic fabrics with cotton or linen aesthetics. It is important for understanding surface texture engineering in synthetic textiles.
