High-Tenacity and Industrial Yarn Spinning
topic
High-tenacity polyester yarn (HT, >7 cN/dtex) for tyre cord, geotextiles, and seatbelts requires high-IV PET (IV 0.85–0.95 dL/g from SSP), low winding speed (1000–1500 m/min), high draw ratios (5–6×) at 200–220°C, and tension heat-setting. Tyre cord requires RFL (resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex) adhesive treatment for rubber bonding. Breaking tenacity of PET tyre cord: 7.5–8.5 cN/dtex.
Role
High-tenacity polyester yarn production requires fundamentally different process design from apparel-grade spinning, integrating polymer science, mechanical engineering, and adhesion chemistry. It represents the highest-performance segment of the polyester industry.
