Spinneret Design and Pack Assembly
topic
Spinnerets are precision-drilled plates (stainless steel or titanium) with 0.15–0.40 mm diameter holes, L/D ratio 1.5–4.0, designed to minimise die swell and ensure uniform pressure drop. Multilobal holes (trilobal, pentalobal, hollow) produce non-circular cross-sections. Sand/screen filtration packs (40–80 µm) upstream remove contaminants. Pack pressure: 100–300 bar.
Role
Spinneret design determines filament cross-sectional shape, which controls lustre, handle, moisture transport, and pilling propensity. Pack pressure and filtration quality directly affect filament continuity and spinneret life.
