Thermosol Dyeing of Polyester Fabric

topic
Thermosol process for continuous dyeing of woven polyester: pad (disperse dye dispersion, 60–80°C) → dry (110–120°C, removing water) → thermosol (190–220°C, 60–90 s, dry heat fixation above Tg). Dye fixation by vapour-phase dye transfer into amorphous regions at high temperature. Fixation efficiency 60–90% depending on dye sublimation class and temperature. Padding liquor requires dispersant, migration inhibitor, urea.

Role

Thermosol dyeing is the dominant continuous dyeing process for polyester woven fabric, critical for high-volume production. Understanding its fixation mechanism, the role of dye sublimation class, and quality control is essential for industrial textile chemistry.
