PTFE and Fluoropolymer Coating
category
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and fluoropolymer coatings are applied as aqueous dispersions (50–60% solids) via dip, knife, or spray coating followed by sintering at 340–380°C. PTFE provides extremely low surface energy (18–20 mN/m), chemical resistance to >95% of industrial chemicals, and continuous service temperature of -200°C to +260°C. Coating thickness of 10–50 µm per pass with multiple passes achieving 100–300 µm total. ePTFE membranes (Gore-Tex) laminated to textiles achieve MVTR >10,000 g/m²/24h with hydrostatic head >20,000 mm H₂O. Market value exceeds $1.8 billion for PTFE technical textiles.
Role
Premium coating solution for high-performance protective clothing, filtration media, architectural membranes, and industrial conveyor belts requiring maximum chemical inertness, non-stick properties, and extreme temperature resistance.
