Randomising and Isotropic Web Formation

topic
Randomising rollers or aerodynamic web randomising systems redirect the fibres in a card web from predominantly machine-direction orientation to a random isotropic orientation by turbulent air flow or mechanical deflection before web deposition, producing webs with equal tensile strength in all directions for applications requiring isotropic mechanical properties including wipes, filters, and absorbent cores.

Role

Produces isotropic fibre orientation in drylaid webs for applications where equal strength and elongation in all directions is required, with randomising effectiveness measured by the machine-direction to cross-direction strength ratio approaching unity as the degree of randomisation increases, enabling production of nonwoven fabrics with the isotropic mechanical properties needed for filtration and absorbent applications.
