Revolving Flat Card Mechanism and Operation

topic
The revolving flat card feeds fibre from a chute or lap through a feed roller and licker-in that transfers opened fibre to the main cylinder covered in wire clothing rotating at 300 to 600 metres per minute, with slowly revolving flats above the cylinder performing carding action at the cylinder-flat intersection while doffer strips the web for sliver formation at production rates of 60 to 120 kilograms per hour.

Role

Performs the essential fibre individualisation, nep removal, and short fibre extraction that defines cotton yarn quality potential, with the critical cylinder-flat carding zone geometry, setting, and wire clothing condition determining the nep removal efficiency that is the single most important factor governing yarn appearance grade and imperfection count in ring and open-end spun yarns.
