Contamination Control in Spinning Room

topic
Contamination in ring spinning refers to foreign fibres (polypropylene, jute, coloured fibres, synthetic fragments) incorporated into the yarn during processing. Sources: raw material (field contamination of cotton), packing materials, operator clothing, and adjacent machine fibre types. Detection: online contamination classifiers (Uster Jossi Vision Shield, Loepfe YarnMaster Prisma) or offline lab testing. Contamination counts expressed as foreign fibre events per 100 km, with customer tolerances often <5 events/100 km.

Role

Contamination control is the most commercially critical quality dimension in cotton ring spinning because even a single foreign fibre visible in finished fabric causes rejection of the entire garment or fabric lot. Understanding contamination sources and control methods — raw material selection, floor and machine cleanliness protocols, and online detection investment — is a non-negotiable quality management knowledge area for premium apparel yarn producers.
