Process Parameters and Settings
category
Ring spinning process parameters include: draft (15–50), twist multiplier (3.0–6.0 for cotton), spindle speed (10,000–25,000 RPM), traveller weight and profile, ring diameter (38–54 mm), ring rail traverse, and roving twist. Each parameter interdependently affects yarn count, strength, evenness, and hairiness. Process setting sheets (Technical Data Sheets) define the nominal value and acceptable tolerance for each parameter for each yarn count.
Role
Process parameter mastery is the practical core of ring spinning engineering. The ability to systematically diagnose which parameter causes a specific yarn fault — and to correct it without disrupting other properties — is the central skill of a textile production engineer. Parameter optimisation using designed experiments (DOE) directly translates to improved yarn quality and reduced production costs.
