Spray and Foam Bonding Applicator Systems
topic
Spray bonding uses rotary atomiser or air-assisted spray nozzles to apply latex binder droplets to the web surface at 5 to 20 percent add-on, depositing binder preferentially at the web surface to create surface bonding that preserves internal web loft and softness for absorbent applications, while foam binder application uses foam generators to apply concentrated binder in foam form that reduces water content and drying energy by 30 to 50 percent.
Role
Provides surface-preferential binder application that preserves the bulk, softness, and absorbency of lofty drylaid and airlaid webs by concentrating binder at the surface bond points while leaving the interior web structure relatively binder-free, enabling production of soft, bulky absorbent nonwovens for hygiene and wipes applications where full saturation binder application would collapse the web structure and reduce absorbency.
