Air-Material Separation Methods
topic
Perforated drums (condensers) create partial vacuum via a fan at one end. Air passes through perforations while fibre tufts remain on the rotating drum surface. In the lower region, the drum is screened from the partial vacuum and tufts fall into a chute. An alternative is the slotted chute of the Rieter UNIflex, where transport air is extracted through slots while material slides down aluminium ribs.
Role
Efficient air-material separation is essential at every machine junction in the blowroom. The separation point also serves as a dust removal opportunity, as dust-laden air is directed to filter systems.
