Batch vs Continuous Material Flow Control

topic
In batch operation, machines run at constant speed when operating but are often productive only 50% of the time, resulting in actual throughput of 600 kg/h instead of the calculated 300 kg/h. Continuous operation (e.g., Trützschler CONTIFEED) adapts machine speeds based on card demand, using tacho-generator signals and microcomputer control. Variations should not exceed ±20% to avoid negative effects on material treatment.

Role

Batch operation's advantage is uniform treatment at constant speed, but the doubled effective throughput can reduce cleaning performance. Continuous operation maximises productive time with near-constant operation. The Rieter UNIcommand system provides integrated electronic monitoring and control of the entire blowroom line.
