Carding Angle Effects and Negative Angles

topic
The carding angle determines clothing aggressiveness and fibre hold. Positive angles (standard) provide good fibre retention. Negative angles (used only on licker-in for some man-made fibres) hold fibres less firmly, enabling easier transfer to the cylinder and reducing choking tendency. Neutral angle (0°) means the leading edge is vertical. The carding configuration between cylinder and doffer is essential for web cohesion.

Role

Carding angle is the single most important tooth parameter. For man-made fibres, which tend to wrap around rollers, negative licker-in angles and specific angle combinations between components are essential for smooth operation.
