Card Clothing Technology
category
Card clothing has the greatest influence on quality and productivity of all card components. New clothing development enabled the production increase from 5 kg/h to 220 kg/h. Three types exist: flexible (hooks in elastic cloth backing, now only on flats), semi-rigid (rigid wires in multi-ply backing with foamed material, on flats), and metallic (continuous saw-tooth wire, on licker-in, cylinder, and doffer). Selection depends on machine type, speed, production rate, raw material, and quality requirements.
Role
Clothing selection is one of the most important decisions in card operation, requiring choice from hundreds of available types. Universal clothing is no longer possible; each application demands specific clothing matched to the material and operating conditions.
