Glass microfibre wetlaid filter media uses borosilicate glass microfibres of 0.3 to 3.0 micrometre diameter dispersed in water with dispersing aids and deposited on inclined wire formers at 50 to 200 grams per square metre to produce HEPA and ULPA filter paper with filtration efficiency above 99.97 percent at 0.3 micrometre particle size from the extremely fine fibre diameter providing submicron interfibre pore sizes.

Role

Produces the HEPA and ULPA filter paper substrate used in cleanroom air filtration, hospital air handling, nuclear exhaust filtration, and high-efficiency vacuum cleaners where only glass microfibre wetlaid construction achieves the submicron particle filtration efficiency required at the pressure drop compatible with practical HVAC system operation, with glass microfibre wetlaid being the enabling material for controlled environment manufacturing across semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and medical industries.
