Synthetic Fibre Wetlaid for Technical Applications

topic
Synthetic fibre wetlaid nonwovens use polyester, polyamide, polypropylene, and aramid chopped fibres of 2 to 20 millimetres length dispersed in water for deposition on papermaking machines, producing wetlaid nonwovens for battery separator, roofing substrate, building membrane, and synthetic paper applications at basis weights of 20 to 200 grams per square metre with binder addition for mechanical consolidation after forming.

Role

Extends wetlaid nonwoven production to synthetic polymer fibres for technical applications requiring the formation uniformity of wetlaid combined with the chemical, thermal, or mechanical properties of synthetic polymers, with polyester and polypropylene wetlaid being used in roofing and flooring substrates, battery electrodes, and specialty technical papers where the combination of formation quality and polymer properties provides performance advantages over drylaid alternatives.
